ASUBEB Chairman Flags Off 2018 Hon. Patrick Aniunoh Holiday Tutorial Program

Education is the key to economic empowerment and our children should be made to access that qualitatively.

Nze Nnaemeka Olisa, Okosisi, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Chairman, made the above remark yesterday at Urban Girls Secondary School, Fegge Onitsha, during the flagoff of the much anticipated 2018 Hon. Patrick Aniunoh Holiday Tutorial Program.

Addressing hundreds of students, Nze Nnaemeka Olisa, who appealed to the children to be serious, noted that free lessons such as this have helped to relieve their parents from some financial burden.

"The holiday tutorial lessons have been  ongoing since 2015 Hon. Paddy Aniunoh started representing Onitsha South 1 Constituency and have consistently run with much improvement till date" he said.

Speaking further about the education friendly legislator, he singled out his sacrifice to ensure every student in the constituency gets education and be open for  scholarship program.

"When i made inquiry from Hon. Paddy about the registration and what the tuition interested students are to pay, i was surprised when he said registration was completely free and all that is required from the students was just to come" because materials for the lesson(exercise books, Pen, Mathematical set, etc) were readily made available by the action legislator", he enthused.

He therefore thanked Ochudo for his unparalleled representation to his constituency, while advising the students to take the holiday lessons serious and also reminding parents who were present to also push their children to focus more on their studies.

In a separate speech, Chief Ezeokenwa Sylvester, former APGA Chairman, Onitsha South, likened Hon. Patrick Anuinoh to Gov. Willie Obiano, because of his method of representation, which according to him has brought much  development to the constituency like never before.

Said he "God gave us paddy, he is an household name and since we started having house members, we have never seen a representative like this".

Chief Ezeokenwa pointed to the blocks of classroom currently under construction and an effort of the Honourable Member.

"The blocks of classrooms over there is been constructed by paddy. He is doing so because of the love he has for education and for the student of Onitsha South constituency" he declared.

In the same vein, the centre coordinator, Mrs Okonkwo Anthonia, who reiterated that registration is free, noted that enough publicity was given to program, as the committee went round Fegge, Woliwo, Head Bridge, to announce the free holiday lesson program and the result was tremendous as large turn out from students was recorded.

Thanking Hon. Paddy for given her the opportunity to co-ordinate the lesson, Mrs Okonkwo noted that what started small in 2015 has thus blossomed to this large magnitude.

She stated that Urban Girls was chosen because of its location at the heart of Fegge.

She went further to state that the lesson which started with just English and Maths in 2015, can now boast of other subjects from science and arts.

She emphasised that the students will not only be tutored but also at the end an exam will be conducted and the successful ones will be given automatic scholarships.

To the students, the centre coordinator, urged them to take their lesson classes serious and at the end the committee through an open process will select students based on their performances for the scholarship.

Overwhelmed by the large turnout and the students who have decided to benefit from his goodwill and magnanimity, Hon. Patrick Anuinoh, said he was happy and that is joy knows no bound for seeing his effort bearing fruits.

Speaking about his passion for education and children, the workaholic legislator said, "I love children and love Education and that's why I am investing in your education"

"In the nearest future, among you, we will have doctors, lawyers, governors, entrepreneurs, legislators like me and many more, so make use of this free opportunities and make your parents and our constituency proud" he said.

According to him, he has vowed to double his effort and therefore ask the students and parents to continue praying for him, so as to continue delivering on his promises.

Parents, students and guests at the ground, were full of praises for the exemplary leadership the Honourable member has shown.

For Hon. Aniunoh, he has handled all terms school fees and he is not thinking of slowing down. And just one week away into the tutorial lessons, the number of students participation has skyrocket, a testimony that Hon. Patrick Anuinoh is a legislator who finds pleasure in serving his people.
