#DPweek2018: 50 Outstanding Trainees Get 2M Worth Of Digital Tools In Anambra (PHOTOS)

 The power packed 3 days Digital  Entrepreneur Week 2018, tagged ‘The Next Level’ and with the hashtag #DPweek2018, came to an exciting end on Wednesday at Stanel World, Awka, Anambra State.

Governor Willie Obiano, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, declared the training session opened, emphasizing  that the program was in line with the administration’s programme for the youths.
Noting that the government of Anambra State runs a youth friendly administration with over 65% of the appointee as youths, he reminded the participants that business in the contemporary world, has moved from archaic brick and mortar approach to modern information driven system.

He expressed hope that with the training and subsequent mentorship, Anambra would raise the pool of entrepreneurs that would dictate the pace in the digital world.

Addressing the trainees, Mr Bonaventure Enemali, the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, expressed satisfaction at the level of preparedness by the organizers and noted that Anambra was long ripe in exploiting the numerous opportunities inherent in the digital world. 

He called on participants to network, using platform, and take advantage of the growing impact of ICT.

“This is apt and part of the plans to empower Anambra Youths for greater contribution to State Economy by introducing the participants to different digital entrepreneurship opportunities.

“Through this medium, it will promote internet-based enterprises and entrepreneurship and the mentorship/sponsorships to select Startups is a way of launching them into the digital entrepreneurship terrain effectively”, he enthused.

His Royal Highness Igwe Dr Emeka Ilouno, JP, Eze Dunu, Igwe Ifitedunu, who was one of the Guest Speaker and was considered as a ‘Digital Igwe’, drilled the participants on the rudiments of entrepreneurship. Igwe tasked them to put in their all and take the training very serious because knowledge is power.

In his welcome address, the initiator, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development and Digital Entrepreneurship, Rtn Ifeanyi Aniagoh, stated that the Digipreneur Week is aimed at bridging the link between the people and wealth creating opportunities in the cyberspace while providing networking opportunities for digital entrepreneurship solutions.

“Through this campaign, we reach out to the people and creatively teach them what and how to rightly use the digital space irrespective of location and level in the society; focusing on Self Development, Value Reorientation and Digital Skills Training.”

Rtn. Aniagoh emphasized the aim of the campaign to include; eradicating unemployment by creating job opportunities, eradicating insecurity by taking youths off  the streets, ending hunger by creating wealth, stopping  internet fraud, and erasing youth delinquency through self development and value reorientation.

He noted that only through continuous exposure of the people through awareness campaigns, hosting of free Digipreneur Seminars and Exhibitions, taking the gospel to every town, all schools and beyond, partnering with institutions and necessary organisations to establish a good curriculum for Digital Entrepreneurship, and many more, can the objectives of the campaigned be achieved.

Finally, he thanked in a special way the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano whose approval and vision for creative active youth made this event possible. In the same vein he appreciated Dr Stanley Uzochukwu, the CEO of Stanel World and equally thanked theofficial media partners.

Mr Celestine Achi, CEO of DigitalPRwire, one of guest speaker, during the course of the 3 days training, talked about opportunities in online TV and other online digital platforms, as he unleashed the digital potentials inside the participants

Same way Mr Jerry Guma, CEO/Co-founder, JT Consulting, a Google Expert and Mr Peter Oluka, Editor of TechEconomy, extensively tutored participants on ways to leveraging online media to market startups.

On the third day, 17 cluster groups were identified based on interest. The groups include; Transportation, Mapping, Archiving/Data Mining, Web Development, Online Broadcasting, E-commerce, Influence Marketing, Mobile Marketing, Politics, Entertainment, Logistic, Agriculture, Real Estate Management, Security, E-learning, Craft/invention, Event Management.

50 Trainees who were outstanding from day one and top the list from the selection criteria, were handed a 2 million worth of Digital Tools to boast their startup businesses and ideas.

  1. ASATU should make sure digital inclusion and literacy is promoted in all communities through schools.Angel investors and venture capital should be harnessed using business hubs,incubators,accelerators and networks.This increases income for schools,hospitals,agriculture etc thereby promoting access to social services.

  2. digipreneur clubs can be adopted by telecom outfits and financial institutions and awards should be given based on how many people have been empowered by the internet mountain.We could create networks that link financiers,digipreneur clubs and customers using ideas of prosumption and co creation.
