Anambra Govt. Kicks Off 2nd Round Of 2018 National Immunization Plus Days


Parents and Caregivers have been urged to make their children and wards available for the second round of the 2018 National Immunization plus days, which begins today across the State.

Governor Willie Obiano made the call during the inauguration of the exercise at the Primary Health Centre Mgbakwu, in Awka North local government area.

Inaugurating the exercise, Governor Obiano represented by the Commissioner for Health Dr. Josephat Akabuike said that his administration will continue to place high premium on health care delivery.

The Governor appealed to Nursing Mothers and Caregivers in the State to utilize the opportunity to immunize their children and wards as his government will sustain efforts towards eradicating all preventable diseases in the state.

The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu, disclosed that the State came second in the 2016/2017 National Immunization coverage survey, noting that the State had not had any case of poliomyelitis for some years now.

Speaking on behalf of the Development Partners, Dr. Edward Okeke from the World Health Organization commended the State government for her achievements in the health sector and assured that they will continue to support the State in eradicating all health challenges.

The inaugural ceremony featured immunization of some children by the Governor.

The second round of National Immunization plus Days will end on Tuesday July third.
