Okada Ban: Operators Ask To Access Loan From ASBA

Commercial motorcyclists otherwise known as Okada operators have been urged to approach the Anambra State Small Business Agency,ASBA to obtain soft loans in order to diversify into other legitimate businesses as a fall back to the proposed ban of Okada in Awka and Onitsha from July this year.

The member representing Onitsha North One Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Barrister Chugbo Enwezor, gave this advice while exchanging views with newsmen at the APGA state Headquarters in Awka.

Barrister Enwezor, however, explained that it might be necessary for the Okada riders to quickly form cooperative societies in order to expedite their discussions and partnership with ASBA for loan facilities to enable them go into mini-bus and tricycle operations as well as other legitimate enterprises.

He expressed happiness that the state government is also prepared to make several mini-buses available for interested persons, pointing out that the gesture is a clear evidence of the fact that the Obiano administration is a very responsive and people oriented government.

Barrister Enwezor who is also the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee of the Anambra State House of Assembly, equally called on eligible voters in the state to, without further delay, take full advantage of the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise and collection of ready Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs to ensure that they would exercise their franchise without any hindrance in the 2019 general elections.
