Anaocha Communities Honour Obiano With Chieftaincy Title Of 'Odozi - Obodo'



Governor Willie Obiano has been conferred with the chieftaincy title of Odozi-Obodo by the traditional rulers in the ten communities that make up Anaocha Local Government Area.

He bagged the title during the 2018, Anaocha Day celebration, which took place at the Council Headquarters Neni.

The Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Innocent Obodoakor of Agulu said the title was in view of his developmental strides in the State.

Governor Obiano, who was represented by his Deputy Dr Nkem Okeke thanked the people of Anaocha, for the honour, promising that he will redouble his development activities in his second term adding that he will continue to carry everybody along.

He called for prayers and continued support to his administration describing Anaocha, as one of the major local government areas, in the state that is blessed with abundant quality human resources .

In a remark, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Rita Maduagwu commended Ndi Anaocha, for the initiative which she said will go a long way in strengthening the love and unity among the people, calling on other local government areas in the State to emulate them.

In an address, the Transition Committee Chairman for the Council Area, Mr Ikeobi Ejiofor, who said that the essence of the event was to re-awaken the spirit of oneness among the people, thanked those that made the event a huge success.

On his part, the Chairman on the occasion and Traditional Prime Minister of Neni, Chief Anthony Enukeme who was during the event, conferred with the chieftaincy title of Anya-Anaocha for his developmental strides in the area, thanked the organizers of the event which he noted will engender unity and love among the people of the area.

 The Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mezue, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Uche Nworah, and the Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Peter Egenti, commended the spirit of unity that exists in the area, praying for the replication of such an event in other parts of the State, as it will go a long way in making the State more peaceful and stable.

In their separate speeches, some Leaders of Thought in the area including the President General of Neni Town Union, Sir Chukwudi Mbonu and Chief Ikenna Okafor, observed that it has been up to ten years such an event was held in the area after it was celebrated twice shortly after its inauguration in 1997, advising those that have not keyed into the initiative to do so for enhanced development of the area.

Others who received Chieftaincy title during the event, were the Senator representing Anambra Central at the National Assembly, Chief Victor Umeh, who bagged the title of Ugwumba Anaocha, while a board member of Golden Tulip Hotels Agulu, Chief Patrick Chidolue was honored with the title of Nnabuenyi among others.

Conferment of titles and service Awards to some illustrious sons of the area, commissioning of water facility and five thousand sitting capacity Podium named after Chief Enukeme, as well as displays by masquerades and cultural dance from the ten communities that make up the Local Government Area were highlights of the event.
