Legislators Must Be Accountable To Their Constituency - Emeka Igwe, APGA Stalwart

An effective legislator is one who listen to his constituency, brief them about legislative and policy issues, aggregate their demands into legislative agenda and project them on the floor of the legislative chambers.

The above statement was aptly captured by Philanthropist and APGA Stalwart, Chief Emeka Igwe as he rounded off his 3 days Wards tour, yesterday, in Awka South Constituency 1.

Igwe who started a tour of the 9 wards that made up his constituency on Tuesday, went along with this one message; to serve and to run an inclusive legislation for his people.

The remaining 3 wards visited by Igwe yesterday, were; Ward 4 Ezi-Awka, Ward 5 Umugbo and Ward 6 Amikwo.

From his remark, the Chairman of ward 4, Mr Osondu Nweke, stated that Emeka was one of the reasons Awka South succeeded in delivering APGA during the governorship election. He referred to him as a progressive mind and promise that the Ward Exco will be submissive to him.

In the same vein, the chairman extol the virtue of Prince Emma Nwigwe, a philanthropist too and a community developer, for his immense contributions to APGA in Awka South and beyond.

Emeka Igwe thanked the ward exco for the warm reception accorded to him and his team and still reiterates his stand of implementing a total overhaul of how his people are represented.

On accountability and equality he said, “the basis of my coming out is to effect an inclusive representation. I have worked at the federal and state level, therefore my capacity is not in question”.

The Awka South Constituency 1 legislative hopeful promised to serve and get what belong to his people for them.  “I seek for your support to get these things done. I will attract investments to Awka South and will ensure we get what is due to us” he stated.

At ward 5 umuogbo, it was like a homecoming for the impeccable technocrat, as youths from the village gathered chanting solidarity songs and affirming him as the right person to represent them.

The ward exco led by Hon. Alex Chinwukwo wholeheartedly accepted Igwe and while he made a promise to get a standard Power Generating Set since their office lack one, the whole place erupted in wild jubilation, as they unanimously thanked him for the gesture

Addressing the ward excos, Igwe said that what is due for Awka South don't come to them and that was what propel him to offer himself to work in the interest of the people.

From Umuogbu, the team finally berths at ward 6, Amikwo, Emeka Igwe’s ward and his arrival was grated with a resounding loud ovation.

The ward exco insisted that as one of their own, they will canvas for him because he has been tested and was never found wanting.

Emeka Igwe who delivered hundreds of office plastic seats and tables to the 9 wards, promised to meet the need and satisfy the yearning of the people in terms of development and standards of living, to promote self-actualization, alleviate poverty and suffering of the people and get them involve.
