Prisons Service Decorates 158 With New Ranks In Anambra

No fewer than 158 personnel of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Anambra have been promoted to new positions in the service.

The newly decorated officers include 108 junior staff and 50 senior officers from across the four prisons centers in the state including Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia and the administrative headquarters in Awka.

Mr Emmanuel Nwakeze, Controller of Prisons who performed the rank decoration at the state headquarters in Awka on Thursday, charged them to brace up for the task of their new ranks.

He described promotion as recognition which came with new responsibilities, new tasks, new trust and new confidence which they must all do.

Nwakeze, who noted that the decoration was the first in the state under his controllership since 2014, congratulated the promoted officers and encouraged others to wait as theirs would come in due course.

“Promotion means recognition, the Prisons Service challenge you to brace for the demands of your new positions which you are being decorated into today.

“You now have higher responsibilities and greater confidence, you must work hard to justify your promotions, do your job with diligence and stay away from any activity that will bring ridicule to the image of the service,” he said.

One of the newly promoted officers, Mr Francis Ekezie, thanked the Service for finding them worthy for elevation.

Ekezie, who was promoted from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons to Deputy Superintendent, said he and his colleagues would do more for the Service.

On her part, Mrs Sophia Ofili, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Controller of Prisons, prayed for God’s protection for the management of the service.
