Anambra Govt Recruits More Health Personnel To Boost Healthcare Delivery



The State Government says it has commenced recruitment of more health personnel into all the Primary Health Centres in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike disclosed this while defending the 2018 budget proposal of the Ministry before the House Committees on Health, Finance and Appropriation.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that Dr Akabuike explained that the three hundred and sixty one primary health centres in the state will also be equipped With enough facilities immediately the proposed budget of the ministry is approved by the House.

He noted that this will bring health services closer to the door steps of the people.
Dr Akabuike told the committee that the Ministry is determined to give the citizens access to quality health care through the implementation of the Anambra State Health Insurance scheme,which requires beneficiaries to pay twelve thousand naira into the state coffers and enjoy accessible, affordable and quality health care for one year.He maintained that only hospitals that are qualified will be selected for the programme and commended House Committee on Health for partnering with the Ministry to realize its vision last year.

In his speech, the Chairman,House Committee on Health,Dr. Nnamdi Okafor commended Governor Willie Obiano for increasing the budgetary allocation of the Ministry from two point eight billion to seven point eight billion, stressing that it has improved the services rendered to patients at the state Teaching Hospital and Primary Health Centres across the state.

Dr Okafor charged the Ministry to surpass their achievements last year to further improve clinical services rendered to patients in the state Teaching Hospitals and Primary Health Centres. The Committee equally commended the Chief Medical

Director,Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku,Awka,Dr Basil Nwankwo for performing creditably within six months in office and assured of all necessary support to transform the Hospital to World class health facility that will meet the health needs of the people and discourage medical tourism abroad.
