Sports Correspondent, Damian Egwuonwu, spoke to some stakeholders on the decision by the state government to float a football team.

Anambra state is the only state in the entire south east without a state- owned football team leading to her young talented footballers moving to other states in search of greener pasture.

The state Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Dr Uju Nwogu, said the formation of a new football team will not only check the mass exodus of talented players to other states but afford young players the opportunity of showcasing themselves .

A former international goal keeper, Emma Okala, said the state should acquire an existing club campaigning in the lower league.

On his part, a former Rangers player, Paul Obiako, noted that the state has enough players that will form the nucleus of the new team.

The coordinator of Anambra state Under Twenty- Three Soccer Fiesta, Prince Eze Ude, said he has assembled the team that will play for the new club since the floating of the first state-owned football club will attract to the state soccer scouts, who will recruit players for their various clubs.
