Obiano Advocates More Support For Security Agencies

Governor Willie Obiano has called on government at all levels to increase their support towards making security agencies realize their mandate of guaranteeing the security of lives and property of the citizenry.

Governor Obiano made the call at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, during a Holy Mass to mark the 2018 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration.

Government House Correspondent, Kenechukwu Ofomah, reports that the Governor, who noted that the Armed Forces play critical role in maintaining peace and order, especially in crisis-ridden places, said the event presents an opportunity for the people to reflect on the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces.

He further advocated improved conditions of service for serving military personnel as a way of encouraging them to put in their best in the service of the nation.

Governor Obiano, who thanked people of the State for supporting APGA in yesterday's senatorial election, called for prayers for God to give the leaders wisdom to know what is right, courage to do what is right and enablement to accomplish what is right.

Earlier in his homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor, urged Christians to refrain from immorality and see their body as the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Bishop Ezeokafor charged leaders, especially Governor Willie Obiano to anchor his victory on providing more basic amenities which he had commenced in his first term.

The Catholic prelate, however, commended the people of the State for maintaining decorum in the just- concluded Anambra Central senatorial re-run election, urging the winner, Chief Victor Umeh, to ensure good representation to avail the people the dividends of democracy that had eluded them since the seat was vacant.
