Fire Disaster Averted At Onitsha Main Market

What could have led to serious financial losses at the Onitsha Main Market was averted when the plant house of a first Generation Bank located in the commercial Nerve Centre went up in flames.

Eye witness account said the plant house immediately caught fire from a yet to be identified source and was threatening to blow up the main branch of the commercial Bank, but for the timely intervention of by-standers and bank officials who rallied round to put off the fire.

ABS news crew gathered that the fire service team of the Onitsha Main Market could not readily react to the demands of the situation, prompting irate mob to threaten stoning and pelting them.

However, there was no human nor major material causalities as the fire was put off before it could get to the main building.

According to our reporters on the scene, normal Banking and other business transaction have since resumed at the Bank and the Onitsha Main Market.
