Anambra To Commence Registration Of Okada Riders, Keke Operators

The Commissioner for Road, Rail and Water Transportation, Princess Chinwe Nwaebili, says all commercial motorcycle also known as okada riders and Tri-cycle otherwise known as keke riders operating in the state will be registered.

Princess Nwaebili who announced this during a meeting in her office in Awka with Okada and Keke riders, said all the operators should be registered to ensure sanity in their activities across the state.

She said the state government would no longer take it easy with union members who do not adhere to the new policy.

The Commissioner said the registration would be done free of charge in all the twenty- one Local Government Areas of the state and advised the union representatives to inform their members adequately to enable them understand the importance of the exercise which she said, would commence soon.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Mineral Resources and Science, Dr. Chinedu Emeka, told the representatives that Governor Willie Obiano appreciated their efforts and support towards actualizing his re-election.

Dr. Emeka enjoined them to adhere to the new policy to further promote security in the state.
