Anambra Rated Third In Mass Literacy Programme In Nigeria

The Acting Executive Secretary and Director State Agency for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non Formal Education

Mr. Donatus Nwosu has called on the staff and facilitators of the agency to ensure that their learning centres across the state are open for free enrollment of new learners.

Mr. Nwosu made the call during the mobilization and sensitization of the one hundred and seventy- nine communities of the state on the free adult education programme of the Agency.

Mr. Nwosu who noted that the free education is not only for adults but for all uneducated persons including, traders, farmers, househelps, palm wine-tappers among others, urged interested persons to visit the learning centres for free enrollment.

He stated that the state government has provided facilities and materials to be distributed to learners free at the centres for their classes and thanked Governor Willie Obiano for his interest and efforts in developing the Education sector which he noted is yielding much fruits.

The AANFE Director who described education as a yard stick for growth and development explained that many people have finished their basic education programme while others have obtained their junior WAEC certificate through the free adult education programme and commended the state government for creating such opportunity for all to be learned.

Mr. Nwosu noted that Anambra is rated third in the federation in mass literacy programme.
