Rotary Club International Donates Books To Anambra Library


Rotary International District 9142, has donated series of text books to Kenneth Dike E - Library Awka, as part of its contribution towards improving the reading culture amongst the citizenry.

While speaking on behalf of the District Governor Dr Emma Udeh-Akpeh, the Assistant Governor in charge of Zone Seven of the District, Professor Michael Okikpo, said the gesture was part of the Club's commitment towards encouraging reading culture amongst the people.

Dr Udeh-Akpeh, restated the commitment of the Rotary to helping the less privileged in the society, assuring that they would continue with the selfless services to humanity.

Contributing, the Assistant Governor in charge of Zone Ten, Pharmacist Uche Akpakama, and a one time Assistant Governor of the Club, Sir. Amaobi Adirika, who described the Club as a non profit making organization, enumerated peoples oriented programmes of the club.

In a remark, the Chairman Nigeria Library Association, Anambra state chapter, Dr Uju Nwaforizu, commended the Rotarians for taking the step towards eradicating illiteracy amongst the people calling on parents to avail themselves and their children the opportunity of increasing their knowledge by patronizing various libraries in the State.


On her part, the Acting Director of the Kenneth Dike E-Library, Miss Nkechi Udeze, appreciated the club on the gesture, advising parents to help in inculcating reading culture in their children and wards, as teachers cannot do it alone.
