How Obiano Rescued Anambra State After 23 Years Of Insecurity

Being that the opposition parties lack the depth required to careful study Anambra State in order to develop a workable manifesto, they have resorted to name calling and futile attempt to either steal success stories of Gov Willie Obiano's administration or "spill their last blood" to make the governor's giant strides look tiny in the eyes of the gullible.

More pathetic is the approach of PDP, they are either abusing the incumbent governor or bragging with achievements of APGA governments (past amd present) without telling ndi Anambra the plans of their candidate or party for the well being of Ndi Anambra.

If Chief Peter Obi had, in 8 years under APGA, done his best with ANIDS and today, Gov Obiano, still under APGA and just 3.5 years in office, is doing wonderful well with his 4 Pillars and 12 Enablers, it's expected of any sound leader and people oriented party to focus on consolidating on the latest gains while developing their manifestos.

It's not how far but how well. The argument that the security we enjoy today in Anambra was solely set up by Chief Peter Obi is a pure fallacy meant to deceive the unsuspecting public.

The story about Chief Peter Obi buying bullet proof patrol vehicles, communication gadgets for the Police Army, Navy, Customs, Prisons, Civil Defence, Road Safety; is not a big deal after all his predecessors, Dr Chris Ngige and Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju also did their bits.

What really matters is the success story... How was the security situation after all those purchases and deals which must have gone with huge commissions and kick backs.

Ndi Anambra have not forgot the fact that before Gov Obiano, the State was known to have defied all security approaches and remained tops in criminal ranking thereby serving as the hub for all sorts of crime in South East Nigeria.

Past governments and ndi Anambra engaged several approaches to cleanse the State, yet to no avail... From "Boys O Yeah!"; "OTA Boys"; "Bakassi Boys"; to "ndi Mpiawa Azu" in the last administration, yet no solution!

Off course, we know Chief Peter Obi could have bought some gadgets, just like governors before him did, but the reality remains that he could not solve the security challenges of the State; that's why Gov Obiano inherited a crime infested State where a former commissioner was kidnapped and killed amongst many high profile crimes with ndi Anambra holding festivals, funerals and traditional marriages outside the State for fear of being robbed, kidnapped or killed.

Today, Gov Obiano has not only borne the cost of maintaining and refurbishing the old equipment bought by his predecessors but he has acquired more vehicles and gadgets with command and control centers adequately equipped to give every Onye Anambra the comfort to sleep with two eyes closed.
For example, it is on record that Gov Obiano inherited 3 non functional Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) from 8 years government of Chief Peter Obi and in just 3.5 years, Gov Obiano has refurbished those three and got additional brand new one from the Inspector General of Police making it 4 functional APCs in Anambra State, as of today.

This is in addition to more patrol vehicles bought, the American styled smart cars, the novel motorbikes brigade, naval gun boats, regular aerial surveillance with police helicopter, Security workshops and summits, jobs for security programmes, etc.

So the germane question is what magic did Gov Obiano do? Go Obiano....
1. Applied continuity ensuring that every good development on security by former governors is sustained
2. Made security his no 1 enabler and set up road map to achieving a sustainable Safest State
3. Organized a capacity building Security Summit for all security formations with Israeli Security Expert, Moshe Keinan in attendance

13. Held head count, training and special reorientation Programmes for the local vigilante groups
14. Fought crime through job creation from New Investments, Agriculture, Loans and other policies and programmes

25. Flagged off the Construction of the new Mobile Police Force Barracks

...and many other security moves and feats!

In each of these laudable achievements, adequate resources were used to train and equip the security formations as due and necessary!

That's why Anambra is the Safest State in Nigeria!
