Anambra Inaugurates Committee On Export Promotion

Farmers in Anambra state will have more reasons to rejoice, as the State Government makes plans to further project their farm produce to the global market,through the inauguration of the Anambra State  Committee on Export Promotion.

The inauguration took place at the office of the Ministry for Trade, Commerce, Market and Wealth Creation, at Jerome Udorji Secretariat, Awka.

The Committee has the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Market and Wealth Creation, Mrs. Stephanie Keri-Uzo, as chairman, the Director Commerce of the Ministry, Mrs. Henrietta Basil-Ideh as the Secretary, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agricultural Export, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba, as member, Mr. Emeka Iloghalu, representing Awka Chamber of Commerce as member, among others.

Inaugurating the Committee, the Executive Director, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) , Mr. Olusegun Awolowo, represented by Mrs. Veronica Oriere, from the Council's headquarters Abuja, commended the state government for its agricultural achievements and charged the members of the committee to move a step further to ensure that other areas of agriculture such as palm oil production are explored in the State.

Contributing, the South East Regional Coordinator, NEPC, Mrs. Gertrude Ukoanam, who explained that the inauguration is apt, as according to her, it will help the state key into the federal Government promotion of non oil exports, which the state has championed through its agricultural exports.

Mrs. Ukoanam who stated that the state Export Promotion Committee which is expected to be inaugurated in all the states of the federation, is targeted at making every state to identify a particular farm produce, it will be exporting to the global market.

The inauguration was witnessed by the State Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, Market and Wealth Creation, Barrister Amaka Ilobi, the State Director National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Mike Ozoemena, observers from Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Enugu and representatives of the state farmers, among others
