Anambra Holds Strategic Health Development Plan Workshop

Strategic Planning, Effective implementation of Policies and Programmes and Corresponding Funding have been described as key to achieving Universal Health Coverage in the country.

These formed the opinions of participants at the opening of a three day Stakeholders Meeting and Workshop for the State Strategic Health Development Plan two, organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with Saving one million lives programme, for result in Awka.

In a lecture, Professor Obinna Onwujekwe from the Department of health administration and management, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus said that the objective of the workshop was to provide a framework for the development of a comprehensive state's strategic development plan two, capable of achieving the state's health objective in line with the new National Health Policy in Nigeria.

Professor Onwujekwe further revealed that the event will also ensure alignment and harmonization of strategic health plans at all level of government through the provision of coherent state goals in order to scale up health services in the state.

The Head of Department, Planning, Research and Statistics, in the State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Edith Nwachukwu in an interview noted that the event will afford the participants from the various relevant stakeholders the opportunity to brainstorm and come up with a strategic plan which the government and donor agencies will key into for an efficient service delivery.

Participants were drawn from the Health sector, Civil Society Organizations, the academia among others while a question and answer session formed the highlight of the event.
