Anambra Guber: INEC Organizes EMS Workshop For Staff


The Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, has organized a two day Election Management System, EMS implementer workshop for its field staff geared towards helping them articulate plans that will prepare them for the upcoming election in the state.

While declaring open the workshop, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji said that the Election Management System is meant to train Electoral Officers, Assistant electoral officers as well as Heads of departments.

The INEC boss stated that the commission received notification from thirty eight political parties in the state but monitored thirty five and emphasized that all political parties have till the end of today for the submission of their party nomination form, adding that they have right to make changes during the specified period of time.

While describing the EMS as the backbone in the election system, the Chairman Planning, Monitoring and Strategic Committee, Professor Ikechukwu Ibeanu said it is a valuable tool for monitoring performance to enable them to tackle issues on time to ensure that the goals are achieved.

Giving an overview of the Election Management System, the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Commission, Professor Michael Kuna pointed out that EMS seeks to evaluate previous methods used over the years in order to make adequate plans for subsequent election and improve the management of adhoc staff.
