Anambra Govt Supports Varsity Student With N2M For Kidney Transplant

The State Government has presented a cheque for two million naira to Miss Ukamaka Unegbu, a thirty-two year old Masters Degree holder who was diagnosed of kidney failure, at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.

Kidney transplant is recommended as a must for the survival of Miss Unegbu who hails from Achina in Aguata Local Government Area.

The Transition Committee Chairman for Aguata Local Government Area, Mr Eche Ezeibe revealed that with a passionate appeal letter for financial assistance to the council from the sick Lady, he drew the attention of the State government who promptly responded to help save the life of the industrious Lady already teaching Chemistry in a private school at Ekwulobia before this ugly development.

Mr Ezeibe applauded Governor Willie Obiano’s administration for always giving listening ears to the cry of the needy in the State and for impacting positively on the lives of Ndi Anambra.

Mr Ezeibe called on the family to ensure that the money is properly utilized for the purpose it was meant for.

Contributing, the immediate past Chairman of the Local government area, Chief Chukwuma Umeoji, commended both the State and Local Government leadership for their efforts in assisting the needy.

In a vote of thanks, Chief Edwin Okoye, the girl’s Uncle, stated that Ukamaka was diagnosed of a kidney problem on nineteenth January 2017, and since then had sought assistance from various quarters without success.

He thanked the Obiano administration for coming to their rescue assuring that the money will be properly utilized for the treatment of their daughter.
