Anambra Govt Commences Installation Of 33KVA Power Line From Awada Obosi To Nnewi

The State Government has commenced installation of Thirty –Three KVA high tension line from Awada, Obosi to Nnewi North and South Council areas.

Governor Willie Obiano disclosed this during a town hall meeting he had with key stakeholders and opinion leaders in the state at Prof Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center, Awka.

The project is to cover thirty –five communities in Nnewi North and South as well as some parts of Idemili and Ihiala Council areas.

Governor Obiano who noted major industries in the state are located in the benefitting communities, explained that though the electrification project is a Federal government project, his government decided to undertake it because of the impact it will have on its industrialization vision.

Governor Obiano who noted that when completed, the project will help achieve fifteen to sixteen hours per day power supply in the communities, assured that the project will be completed in one month's time or less.

He noted that when added to the thirty –six communities in Orumba North and South which his government has given light through a dedicated feeder from Oji River Power substation, the project will significantly contribute towards his government's efforts at addressing the electricity challenges in the state.

Governor Obiano also announced that his government will in its second term commence the Dualization of major roads in Nnewi, Awka and Onitsha to make for free flow of traffic in the cities, while eight more bridges will be constructed in the three senatorial districts of the state.

According to him, all these have been factored into the state 2018 budget and the implementation will start immediately the budget is passed by the State House of Assembly.
