Shame As Fake APGA Conducts Primaries inside Bus

In what may go down as the most desperate and ridiculous game of political brinksmanship, a group of persons parading themselves as alternative APGA party led by Chief Martin Agbaso in a bid to hold Primary elections within Anambra State out of the prying eyes of law enforcement agencies ended up selecting their candidate inside a bus on Monday August 21, 2017 en-route Ezira Orumba South Local Government Area.

The Martin Agbaso led group which earlier in the day dispersed in disappointment from the Marble Arch Hotel Awka where they attempted to stage what has been described by observers as a “mock Primaries” without achieving their objective, reportedly sought venue across the state without success and proceeded towards the home town of the only the aspirant, one Chief Hygers Igwebuike, who was eventually chosen as candidate following agreement reached inside a bus and eventually ratified in a hurried stop-over at Ezira Primary School, Orumba North Local Government Area to avoid the attention of law enforcement officers bent on ensuring there is no breakdown of law and order anywhere in Anambra State.

Investigations show that the hurriedly packaged show of shame appear not to have met any criteria led down by the Electoral Act for conduct of Primary elections since no INEC official was on hand to witness the hastily arranged event apparently choreographed as a face-saving game-plan for the hapless Agbaso group.

Speaking on the development, a community leader in Ezira Chief Enukamma Okoye told newsmen that they were surprised at the haste with which the event was organized since most of the actors were not from the community. Chief Okoye wondered why the group ran all the way to Ezira to “put up their play-acting if they are indeed convinced that they are APGA.” He advised the Agbaso led group to save face by throwing-in the towel because Anambra is clearly behind the incumbent governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

Also speaking, a petty trader near the venue, Mrs. Martina Umeh said that when the canopy was set-up, they thought that a church crusade would be held in the evening, but were pleasantly surprised by the sudden appearance of some people who arrived with buses and staged the event. Said Mrs. Umeh: “I didn’t know what they were doing until one of them came to buy biscuits and mineral and told us it is party. Which kind party is this? She queried.

It would be recalled that the authentic APGA led by Chief Victor Oye had in a well-attended Primaries voted for Chief Willie Obiano as its candidate in a process witnessed by INEC officials. This desperation by the Agbaso led group has left many persons wondering why they cannot read the writing on the wall since most of the sponsors of the scheme have already resigned to fate since the whole ‘order of mandamus’ scheme was quashed by the recent unanimous ruling of Appeal court in Enugu.

It was also gathered that the attempt by Chief Agbaso to file Notice of an appeal at the Supreme Court is unsuccessful since nothing could be done until the court returns from annual recess.
