Ozubulu community in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State was this morning thrown into mourning as a gun man walked into St Philip's Catholic Church and started shooting sporadically, killing 11 and injuring 18 persons
The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano who stormed the scene immediately to ascertain the level of damage and sympathize with the people, reacted to the attack, calling it an unprecedented attack and clearly unacceptable.
Gov Obiano also visited Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi where the injured are being treated.
He promised to take care of the medical bills and funeral expenses of the victims while stressing that the unfortunate attack was an extension a feud between two members of the community who reside abroad. He promised that the perpetrators of the attack will be brought to book.
"All the people that were injured will be treated free of charge. We will also make necessary arrangements to assist in the funeral of the dead".
"The people of Ozubulu should go about their business normally, we're on top of this situation. We'll arrest the people behind this crime and deal with them decisively"!
"Don't panic or think any invasion. This is not an invasion as some people are saying! Let all churches continue with their normal activities without fear of molestation or anything. Our Churches can't be invaded"!
