Bill For Law Establishing Anambra Polytechnic Mgbakwu Scales Second Reading In State Assembly

The State House of Assembly has inaugurated a four man Adhoc committee to come up with ways to address the erosion menace threatening the buildings within the House of Assembly premises.

The House inaugurated the committee following a motion which emanated from a matter of urgent public importance, sponsored by the member representing Nnewi South one Constituency, Mr. Kingsley Iruba during plenary.

Members of the Adhoc committee are the chairman House committee on finance and Appropriation, Honourable Obinna Emeneka, the chairman House committee on Environment, Chief Lawrence Ezeudu , his Works counterpart , Dr Ikechukwu Umeh and the chairman House Services, Prince Boniface Okonkwo.

Inaugurating the committee, the speaker Barrister Rita Maduagwu charged them to also come up with how best to beautify the House of Assembly complex in order to give it a befitting look .

Sponsoring the motion , Honourable Iruba noted that the erosion menace threatening the buildings within the State House of Assembly complex could swallow the entire area if urgent steps were not taken to remedy the situation.

In their contributions, the member representing Awka South One Constituency, Dr Nnamdi Okafor and his Njikoka One Constituency counterpart, Dr Timothy Ifedioramma called for the beautification of the House of Assembly environment with the budgetary allocation approved for the House in the 2017 budget .

Also at plenary, a bill for a law to establish the Anambra State Polytechnics Mgbakwu scaled through second reading.

However, the bill was referred to the House committees on Judiciary and education to do further work on it and report back to the House within two weeks.

In supporting motion for adjournment the minority leader, Mr. Onyebuchi Ofor commiserated with the victims of Ozubulu massacre and urged the federal; Government to punish the perpetrators of the dastardly act accordingly, when fished out.

  1. what about the new house Assembly complexes at Agu Awka which complies the three arms of Government then if that in progress what essence of rehabilitating the old one by the house Assembly is that not wasting of resources by state Government.
