APC Guber Primary: Tony Nwoye Clinched Party Ticket, Benched Uba, Others (PHOTOS)

In a keenly contested gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressive Alliance for the November 18 election, Hon. Tony Okechukwu Nwoye, a medical doctor and member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing the people of Anambra East/West constituency of Anambra state emerged the party flagbearer.

With accreditation, voting, sorting, counting and collation that lasted almost 48 hours, Hon. Nwoye in emerging winner polled a total of 2146 votes, beating his major contender, Sen. Andy Uba, who polled 931 votes.

The primaries has earlier predicted was suppose to be a fight to finish for the following four leading gladiators; Sen. Andy Uba, Chief George Moghalu, Hon. Tony Nwoye and Engr. Barth Nwibe. Political pundits were rather surprise not just for the emergence of Mr Tony but also the total number of votes garnered compared to the rest.

The flagbearers of political parties are beginning to come to fore as the November 18 election date draws near. Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra state had earlier in the month of August secured the ticket of APGA to fly its flag in the elections, Osita Chidoka for UPP and Godwin Ezeemo is the PPA candidate. Another major party, PDP, will today holds its primary after months of internal issues bedeviling the party.

Here is a breakdown of the APC Guber primaries total vote scores.

(4) Barth Nwibe 414 votes
(5) Mike Nwike 20 votes
(6) Tony Nwoye 2146 votes
(7) Chike Obidigbo 22 votes
(8) Donatus Okonkwo 10 votes
(9) John Bosco Onunkwo 85 votes
(10) Senator Andy Uba 931 votes
(11) Uchendu Adaobi 1 vote
(12) Obinna Uzor 17 votes
