Anambra LG Commission Moves To Eradicate Ghost Workers


The State Local Government Service Commission has announced its resolve to totally eradicate 'Ghost Workers' from the local government system in the State.

The Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission, Dr Peter Egenti disclosed this at the Flag off of the Final Batch of its Productivity Campaigns at Aguata Local Government Council Area.

The Commission's Chairman, Dr Egenti who decried the negative notions for which the local government system is seen, stated that the leadership of the Commission is now out to reform the system in the State and make it more responsible to the needs of the people at the grassroot level.

Dr Egenti further stated that the Productivity Strategic Work Plan will empower staff with new skills to become effective and efficient in implementing government policies, emphasizing that a multi level monitoring will be used to ensure that the programme is not paid a lip service.

Earlier In a welcome address, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Mr. Eche Ezeibe stated that the Local Government under his leadership has already started implementing the Productivity Campaign Work Plan through opening up new Internal Revenue Sources.

Lectures on the need for the Local Government Staff to be more responsive in the voter education of the rural populace were also taken by the Commissioners of the Commission, Dr Uju Okeke, Mrs Roseline Ifezuluike and Chief Austin Anyaeji.

The Final batch of the Productivity Campaign was launched for Aguata, Awka South, Dunukofia, and Orumba North and South Council Areas.

Highlights were the presentation of Departmental Work Charter by different Departments.

  1. Serial numbers should be given to workers to check ghost workers and roles based on development administration should be introduced to encourage team work,innovation and partnerships
