Anambra Guber: Immigration Service Arrest 3 Foreigners With INEC Voters Cards

The Comptroller of Immigration Service Anambra State Command, Mr King Ekpedeme, said the command has arrested three foreigners in possession of INEC voter’s cards.

The Comptroller disclosed this while addressing ECOWAS citizens residing in Anambra State, who were being verified in Awka to ascertain the genuineness of their documents.

Mr. Ekpedeme said his command is determined to intensify monitoring of foreigners to ensure they do not participate in the November 18th governorship election in the state.

He advised Heads of the National Association of Citizens of the ECOWAS member states resident in the state, which includes Ghana, Cote d' ivoire, Togo, Cameroun, Niger and Guinea to be involve in the immigration management by encouraging their compatriots to document their stay with the immigration officers in various local government areas across the state as well as respect the laws, culture and traditions of the country.

Warning them against indulging in negative acts capable of truncating the peace of the state, the State Immigration Comptroller stated that he will work with the service headquarters in Abuja to ensure appropriate punishment is meted out to law offenders in the state.

Responding, the President Ghana Association, Anambra State, Engineer John Kwame Forson, promised to partner with the state Command of the Immigration to ensure that their members do not participate in the forthcoming election in the state.

He further advised other ECOWAS members residing in the state to get their documents from their country's High Commission to avoid being arrested.
