Anambra Guber: Group Organizes Prayer Rally For Peaceful Conduct Of Election

The World Christian International Ecumenical Centre has organized a one day prayer rally for the peaceful conduct of the November eighteenth governorship election in the State.
The prayer rally took place at Emmaus House Awka.

Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that while addressing the group, Governor Willie Obiano, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Sir Anselem Okafor, commended various religious bodies in the State for their prayers and support to his administration, assuring that his government will continue to synergize them for enhanced development of the State.

Recounting the achievements of the administration in all sectors of the State economy, Governor Obiano, called for more public support as his administration work for the welfare of the citizenry.

On his part, the President of the group, Reverend Elias Ekwemmuor, who described peace as paramount before and after the forthcoming election, said the rally was aimed at ensuring peaceful gubernatorial election in the State, noting that Christians in the state will continue to support the Obiano administration with prayers.

In his remarks, the immediate past State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that card reader machines that were not used during the previous election are in good shape before the forthcoming election, to ensure peaceful and credible election.

Enlightening the people on the need for peaceful election, the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Dr. Mike Ozoemena, charged the citizenry to avoid acts capable of causing violence during and after elections.

Earlier in a sermon, Reverend Father Casmir Urama, charged Christians to be agents of Peace as Christ is the Prince of Peace.
