Rotary Donates Books Worth Hundreds Of Millions To Anambra State (PHOTOS)

The central planning committee, Rotary District 9142, led by the Chairman, Rotarian Ndubuisi Nwobu, paid a courtesy visit early this morning to the management of Anambra State Broadcasting Service, ABS, Awka, Anambra State. 

Rotarian Nwobu, said the committee visit to the organization was to familiarize, introduce the Pioneer Governor of District 9142 and announce detail of the District inauguration. 

District 9142 which is a new District according to Rotarian Nwobu, comprises of the 5 South East States and 2 South South States of Cross River and Akwa Ibom.

This new district and another will be inaugurated on 15th July, 2017 and thereafter  Dr Emman Udeapke, the new District Governor will be installed.

Rotarian Nwobu who disclosed that many activities have been lined up starting from Thursday 13 July, 2017, and such activities will include tree planting at Prof Kenneth Dike Library, Polio-Walk, amongst others.

Thanking the management of ABS for receiving them, Dr Emman Udeakpe, the pioneer District Governor, said they have come to see the organization, identify with it as partner in service, encourage them for the good they do and then invite them to be part of the activities lined up towards the official inauguration of their district and his installation as the first Governor of International District 9142.

“Come Friday this week, we will be embarking on Polio Eradicating Walk here in Awka and we invite you to join us.  Again on Saturday shortly before we proceed for the installation, we would be doing a symbolic or commemorative tree planting at Prof Kenneth Dike Library, Awka, to mark the beginning of our district and we want that trees when they grow, that 100 years after, persons who still be here in the world, we see it and recall that some of us who pass before them did show concern for the protection of the planet earth”, he enthused.

Dr Udeakpe who his widely regarded as 'Rotarians Rotarian' within the rotary circle because of his dedication its course, continued, “to follow up on that symbolic tree planting, for which we dedicating to the children of the world to see that they have a better world, we will within the next 30 days be denoting 40 feet container load of books to the Anambra State Government to be use in Prof Kenneth Dike Library or any part of State where they have library or schools where there is need”.

Speaking further, Dr Emman said Rotarians will also be touching the Chukwuemeka Ojukwu Hospital, as they will partner with a team of doctors on a two week medical mission and training of medical personnel soon to impact on them skills that will make it a better institution.  He disclosed that within those period, patients will be treated free of charge in various disciplines.

Mr Uche Nworah, MD, Anambra Broadcasting Service, who was decorated with the theme pin of the Rotary year by the District Governor, appreciate the Rotary Planning Committee for coming. 

He promised that ABS will cover all the activities of Rotary and as a measure of goodwill offers Rotary the opportunity to be the first to plant a tree at the new digital building. He assures the committee ABS cooperation, while wishing the pioneer District Governor, Dr Emman Udeakpe, a successful tenure.

Other Central Planning Committee members present were, Rotarian Chucks Nweke, PAG Rotarian Eloka Chukwudum, Rotarian Amaobi Akirika, who was Past Assistant Governor and also former MD of ABS.
