Anambra Govt To Empower Agricultural Programme Trainees

The two weeks intensive capacity building training on different Agricultural enterprise for two hundred and fifty unemployed graduates and women has ended with a charge on participants to bridge the yearning gap in Agricultural produce. The participants were drawn from across the state. 

The training tagged Graduate Unemployed Youths and Women Support Fadama -GUYS , was organized by the Third National Fadama Development Project in collaboration with some tertiary institutions took place at the Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu, Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, and Federal College of Education Technical Umumze the venue for the closing ceremony.

Addressing the participants, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization , Processing and Export, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, said only two hundred out of the two hundred and fifty candidates who scaled through the screening and approved business plan will be empowered by the third National Fadama Development Project to the tune of Eight hundred thousand to two point five million naira each spending on their chosen enterprise and business plan.

Mr. Mbanefo represented by the State Project Co-ordinator Fadama III Additional Financing, Mr. Chuka Egbue said Governor Willie Obiano is fine tuning plans to fund and establish the remaining fitting.

The Provost, Federal College of Education Technical Umunze, Professor Joseph Ogbuagu while welcoming the Fadama III Additional Financing team to the institution, expressed joy that the participants were given the freedom to choose the enterprise of their choice.

The Director of the Programme, and DeanSchool of Agric and Home Economics, Dr. Theresa Okoli said the training was more of practical work as they even went up to Ogboji Community tomake their nursery since the necessary skills are impacted to them.

Some of the participants, Miss Purity Nwambu from Anambra East Council area and Mr. Ejike Okafor from Anaku, Ayamelum Council area who chose cassava and rice enterprise respectively, expressed joy that their instructors were committed in impacting knowledge.
