Obiano Receives Daily Times Heroes Award


Governor Willie Obiano adds another feather to his cap as he wins the Times Heroes award for good governance.

The event held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja was organized by Daily Times Newspaper, and coincided with its ninety first anniversary, had distinguished personalities of note in attendance.

Among deserving heroic Nigerians who received awards of various categories, having distinguished themselves in various spheres of human endeavour, as well as positively impacted on people's lives; include President Muhammadu Buhari, President Nana Akufo-Ado of Ghana, former President Goodluck Jonathan; and the Nigerian Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Other Governors who were awarded include, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos, Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Ibrahim Dankwabo of Gombe, Bindo Jubril of Adamawa, Yahaya Bello of Kogi and Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, among others.

Dedicating the award to ndi Anambra, Governor Obiano stressed that leadership is all about sincerity of purpose, which the State represents, adding that his administration has blazed the trail in education, security, agriculture, among others.

Speaking through the Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, the Governor called on the citizenry to play more supportive roles to his administration.

Earlier in a keynote speech, Senator Bola Tinubu who was represented by Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola noted that building of a formidable future is far fetched without a recourse to the past which Daily Times Newspaper stands for adding that the Nation has reached the stage where she needs to define the kind of Nation she wants to become.

Senator Tinubu noted that there needs to be a streamlining of governance powers, so that more of such powers would devolve to the States.

The Publisher of Daily Times Newspaper, Mr Fidelis Anosike, expressed optimism that a new dawn has come in the company, saying that the ceremony is a reward system for those who have made impact in the Society, adding that they are resilient to reviving the Daily Times of the old.
