Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has emphasized the fact that citizens of the State are truly the Light of the Nation being a special breed of humans who excel in virtually every field.
Gov Obiano made the statement while welcoming guests to the Funeral Service in honour of late Pa Sir Godfrey Egbuniwe Okwuosa at St Jude's Anglican Church, Nkwo-edo, Oraifite earlier today.
While enjoining visitors from outside the State to enjoy all the desirables inherent in Anambra, the governor explained that the ability of ndi Anambra to excel in all areas of human endeavour makes them "the most hospitable set of people in Nigeria."
Reiterating that ndi Anambra "are truly the Light of the Nation," governor Obiano disclosed how the State currently leads in several areas including security, worker's welfare, diversification of the economy through agricultural revolution as well as the special economic stimulus package which has cushioned the effect of recession on the people.
On the demise of Pa Okwuosa, governor Obiano charged Nigerians to lead a life of purpose so that they might live long and leave a lasting legacy as is evident in the life of the deceased who is invariably being celebrated.
Describing Pa Okwuosa as a "great dad who lived a purposeful life," the governor thanked all the guests who traveled from far and near to celebrate a worthy life well spent.
In his homily, Bishop Chukwuma echoed that Anambra is one state that other states look up to while frowning at the tendency of ndi Igbo to fight themselves over common interests.
Speaking further, Bishop Chukwuma charged ndi Anambra to thread with caution noting that the best candidate to choose in the forth coming election is Chief Obiano as far as "Willie is Working. Let the people decide... This isn't the time for money politics."
Present at the funeral service were members of the National Assembly; members of Federal and State Executive Councils; former Governors and former Deputy Governors; former and present Ambassadors of Nigeria and beyond, representatives from foreign nations; members of Anambra State House of Assembly; the clergy; traditional rulers; major stakeholders and captains of industries; friends and well wishers.
