Gov Obiano Charges Christians On Evangelism, Brotherliness

Gov Willie Obiano has said that he will continue to deploy his experience in administrative and economic concerns to ensure that the State economy remains viable despite the present economic recession in the country.

Governor Obiano stated this during a Eucharistic mass to mark the pastoral visit of the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor to St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, GRA Awka and the Feast Day of the Parish.

The Governor noted that his social contract with Ndi Anambra entails using every single resource at his disposal to work for their good. He said what he has done since his assuming office was to entrench best democratic practices in the State governance.

He hinted on the economic stimulus package of his administration which he noted, hinged on availing Ndi Anambra some financial respite in view of the hardship faced by Nigerians and revealed the State government has arrested and is prosecuting 27 persons who have violated the directive.

Governor Obiano who is also a Parishioner at the Church, commended fellow Parishioners for their dedication towards evangelism in the area and urged them not to lose sight of their commitment that has ensured the growth of the Church.

In a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor said Christians as the light of the world,  should endeavor to show the light wherever they are, adding that wherever there is light, there is freedom and the devil cannot operate.

He commended the present administration for its efforts at ensuring adequate security of lives and property and said what it has achieved for the State is massive influx of investors into the state.

The traditional ruler of Awka, HRM Obi Gibson Nwosu and his Ndiowelle Counterpart in Anambra West Council, Igwe Anthony Okechukwu said the Feast day celebration was unique in that the Parish is celebrating Gov Obiano who has distinguished himself by the exemplary way he is administering the affairs of the state and admonished brotherly love among the parishioners.

Highpoints of the event was the administration of sacrament of confirmation on 146 candidates as well as presentation of gifts to Bishop Ezeokafor by the Parishioners.
