ANAMBRA SCORECARD: Ayamelum is 100% Involved In Agricultural Revolution In Anambra - Hon Uche Okafor

Since Chief Willie Obiano took over the mantle of leadership as the governor of Anambra State, many laudable achievements have been recorded in the State’s Agricultural sector with over $600 million agro-investments attracted within the last 2 years.

The unprecedented revolution which spread across rice farms, cassava and tomato production, fish farming, modern abattoir, vegetables farming, poultry, meat processing and many other sections of the Agricultural value chain, yields numerous benefits towards the development of Anambra State while creating thousands of employment opportunities.

Among the beneficiaries of these achievements is the good people of Ayamelum local government area. A place regarded as the food basket of the State.

The 28th Edition of the Anambra Scorecard, an online live programme where the led engage their leaders, had Hon Uche Okafor, member representing Ayamelum Constituency, as guest.
Hon Okafor who is the Chairman of House Committee on Public Utilities described as "A great honour and a wonderful experience," the opportunity to serve ndi Ayamelum.

Taking questions from online audience, which was anchored by Rtn Ifeanyi ANIAGOH, Hon Okafor when asked about the extent of involvement of Ayamelum in the Agricultural revolution programmes of Gov Obiano's administration, said, "Ayalemum is 100% involved."

"When you talk about Agriculture in Anambra State, you are directly or indirectly talking about Ayamelum, because 60% of the food consumed in the State is from Ayamelum," - Hon Okafor said.
The legislator singled out the Agro-Mechanization approach introduced in the Agricultural Sector by Gov Obiano noting that it has contributed so much in developing Ayamelum.

"We now have more persons engaging in farming. The yields are increasing and our people are becoming more prosperous, all thanks to the mechanization and new farming techniques introduced by this administration," said Hon Uche.

Continuing, Hon Uche said, "This government provides improved seedlings to the farmers, give them access to soft loans and free trainings on best practices and above all ensures the existence of off-takers thus making farming easier, more profitable and very attractive".

Citing Coscharis Farm and other farms as sources of employment for ndi Ayamelum, Hon Uche thanked Gov Obiano for providing the conducive environment that allow the influx of such investments into the State.

"The popular Anambra Rice which is not only very nutritious but much more affordable is mostly cultivated in Ayamelum... Our people are happy with the governor for putting us on the right stage," - Hon Uche added.

Anambra Scorecard returns with 29th Edition as it continues to engage representatives from other constituencies, government appointees and stakeholders in the state.
