Obiano Lights Up More Anambra Roads, Cities



The Anambra's Gov Chief Willie Obiano has commissioned streetlights from New Tyre, Nkpor through New Parts flyover area to Borromeo Round About, Onitsha.

The modern streetlights is about 210 units of 180 watts LED bulbs covering about 5km stretch,  and would to be powered by gas and through the national grid.

 This project is in line with the present administration's resolve to make Anambra the most business, Social and environmental friendly state in Nigeria.

At the commissioning ceremony, Gov Obiano noted that the latest streetlights brings to about 90km, the total stretch covered by his administration in streetlights installation across the state,soon the remaining 60km of 150km already in process would be completed, in the first phase.

According to him, his administration targets in the next two months, to cover all the routes leading from Amansea boundary with Enugu State to Asaba, Delta state boundary, adding that the lighting project has provided the state a beautiful outlook at night especially during the Yuletide celebrations.

Gov Obiano commended the state's Security team comprising the Army, Nigeria Police, NDLEA, the Navy among others for their efforts that had ensured that the state remained free from crime so far, acknowledged that the streetlights would always give impetus to their efforts as according to him, crime thrives most in darkness.

The Commissioner for Power and Domestic Water Development, Mr Obi Nwankwo lauded the governor's commitment at sustaining the "Light-Up Anambra state" project which was ongoing on 150 kilometers of roads across the state, and called on the people to take ownership of the projects in their localities so as to prevent them from destruction.

The governor also inaugurated the street lights on the 15kilometers road stretch covering Amawbia through Nise to Agulu lake, where he assured Ndi Anambra that the new year 2017 shall be better than the outgoing one as his government is focused on intensifying efforts at providing them increased dividends of democracy.

The President General of Nise, Chief Dom Obiekie thanked Gov Obiano for his numerous strides at improving the face of infrastructure in the rural places and assured him of the people's continued support to his administration.
