Anambra Local Government Service Commission Urges LG's Information Officers To Abide By The Ethics Of Good Journalism



AWKA - The Chairman, Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Awka, Dr. Peter Egenti, has called on the Local Government Information Officers in the State, to abide by the principles and ethics guiding the practice of Journalism.

Dr. Egenti made the call during a one day training program on online journalism practice and its benefits to grass-root development, which was organized for the Local Government Information Officers and Heads of Local Government Administration of the twenty one Local Governments at the Local Government Service Commission, Awka

The Commission boss who described information dissemination as indispensable in every organization, said it is a vehicle for the promotion of the two point agenda of the Commission, anchored on discipline and productivity towards the total transformation of Anambra Local Government system for more effective and efficient service delivery.

He further described social media as a very useful tool for enhancing the image and showcasing the potential of the Local Government system, encouraged the officers to use the Local Government page in the Anambra State blog since it is cheaper and quite accessible.

The resource person, Honourable Ifeanyi Aniagoh, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on social media, highlighted the importance of social media to rural and national development.

He disclosed that Online Journalism is stress free, cheaper and more informative and as a result will help to effectively report numerous activities and challenges in the one hundred and seventy nine communities in the state.

 In a vote of thanks, the Chairman, Anambra State Local Government Information Officers Comrade Nnamdi Nweke expressed gratitude to the Commission for providing opportunities for the Local Government Information Officers to date their knowledge through such training.

He noted that the capacity building training is a welcome development and promised that the Information Officers will continue to promote good governance at the various Local Government levels as well as project the image of Local Government and rural dwellers through efficient information dissemination network and management.
